When I moved into my current position, I inherited a bad website. I’m sure a lot of you feel my pain.
With senior leadership’s approval to start taking next steps to get us to where we need to be on the web, I began the process of browsing “cutting edge” church websites. I came to the following conclusion: It’s time for a new church website experience.
By no means am I bashing current church websites. Lord knows we have all come a long way since FrontPage and 1999. There are some really awesome designs, functionality, and innovative methods of assimilation.
I just think it’s time for something new because copycatting and predictability is rampant.
Enter FutureofChurchWeb.com. We’ve assembled a team of folks, at The Chapel, who desire to re-think the future of church websites as we get the ball rolling on brainstorming a re-design. We’re seeking input from anyone and everyone who wants to post their thoughts on the topic. We also want other churches to benefit from our efforts — this is not an exclusive Chapel project.
Thanks to ChurchMarketingSucks.com featuring us in a post, we’ve received some really good feedback to date. Ultimately we’ll deduct the forward-thinking ideas and discuss on MediaSalt.
What are your thoughts? The sky’s the limit.
