Ah, the long weekend. Nothing caps off the Summer like some extra free time with friends and family just grilling out around the pool. If we don’t have other big plans, I always like to spend a little of that extra time on a small, but rewarding project that I may have been putting off for a little while. Here are a few ideas:
Create the Ideal Testing Rig
Got a Mac and a spare hour this weekend? Follow our simple guide to create a free and simple testing environment to use for all of your web projects. It will give you one less reason to fire up that old PC (which you could eventually use as a hacked home media server, but that’s a whole other post…).
Finally Get Organized
Admit it… You’re not nearly as organized as you would like to be. You can take the first step to organizational nirvana this weekend by signing up for Google calendar and getting everything nicely synced up between all of your computers. Prepare for massive productivity when Tuesday rolls around!
Purge Your Facebook Profile
It may just be me, but somehow Facebook has begun feeling a little more like “random-acquaintance” book. Take advantage of “lists” to sort through the people you know and lock down the ones you don’t. I recently created a list called “I barely know you” that is working out great for me.
Take a Tech Vacation!
Didn’t see that one coming did you? Even the geekiest of us sometimes need to go off the grid and spend some much needed time with friends and family. Don’t tweet, check your Facebook, read blogs, etc. Try to check your email only once if you have to. It’ll recharge your batteries and hopefully recenter your focus on the things that really matter.
Anybody else have better plans for the weekend?

It‘s quiet in here! Why not leave a response?
