Disappointed that nobody gave you your favorite candy over the weekend? Despair no more… today’s your lucky day. That’s right, I have 15 invites to Google’s (debatably) useful Wave beta, and if you act fast, one of them could be yours!
Want one? All you have to do is leave a comment below telling us a creative way you think the Church could take advantage of Wave’s unique communication abilities. If you’re one of the first 15 to respond with a qualifying comment, you’ll get one of my invites; it’s that simple.
Be sure to leave a valid email address when you comment so we know where to send the invite; good luck!

It looks like the invitations won’t be sent instantaneously. Here are Google’s notes from within Wave itself…
Invitations will not be sent immediately. We have a lot of stamps to lick.
Thanks for all of the great comments everyone!
Google Wave has the potential to be a wonderful collaboration tool for church staff to keep everyone updated on the needs of the congregation, plans for upcoming events, delegation and encouragement. Of course, as more people find out about and start using Wave, these benefits could be just as useful down the road for the entire congregation.

Google Wave is perfect to get all people together in the beautiful mind Jesus did hundrets of years ago…so it would be a great idea to get young people connected like they get connectes in Taizé. So let their be a community in the spirit of Taize…

I think the church could have a great use for Google Wave, on an even larger scale than congregational based uses. A wave setup properly could easily be an extension of normal services to those members of the congregation who subscribe to a wave. It could become a real-time 24/7 accessible sermon with immediate feedback and discussion for all involved to grow and learn.
I from Argentina and I cant speak very well english but Google Wave going to be my life please I need one
I would love an invite!!!!
I didn’t see that you wanted to know creative ways for the church to use it. Heres mine: After church service, someone could set up a wave to discus the meanings and implications of what was taught. People could express their ideas in real time, and see what other people had to think about what was said. I think it would really help some people delve deep into what the meaning of each teaching is!
to understand foreign topics such as italian ones, so you can really wave in al open sea
I think it would be great to be able to extend the reach of the ministry using google wave. We have to be more open to this technology
I’m interested in trying Wave out to see if it can keep staff and volunteers on the same page planning worship services. We have three areas that have to work together to get a service pulled together-the worship staff the preaching staff (who also meet with other volunteers to plan) and the volunteers involved with running the service. Wave might help solve some of the missing information that occationally doesn’t trickle down to everyone.
Remember, in order for your comment to qualify, it has to match the criteria in my instructions above

I assume you mean the Church in general, so here goes.
A church is only as strong as it’s members and used to be a very effective way at mobilizing people for causes or events to promote their idea and causes. Google Wave will act as a community message board for churches that support members that adopt Wave. This will allow them to communicate in a very easy to use, one place for everything message board and plan their actions for anything. This can go from Trunk-or-Treating events all the way up to mobilization for a member needing a visit in the hospital. Google Wave to the rescue!
Now maybe I can get on the Wave . . .
oh . . . I guess you’ll want my email . . . I don’t know if the facebook connect will allow that to work for you. shorberg@gmail.com good sir!
Google Wave could change a lot of things, and for a church it could be useful in many ways,
With Live updates, and updated my the community People would be able to speak freely about what’s to come, and how they feel,
and get support from other people,
I mean i am not a big believer, but if i knew of a church who used this, i would be happy go and speak to them about what i believe and they can always help you see the light in many ways,
It can change too many things to be listed, but it will change them for the Better
Peace
Dave
Every means of communication is a tool — one that will undoubtedly be used by some for sinful purposes. That is why it is so important for the Church to keep up with the latest technologies and new media. We need to place ourselves in media where our message we will be heard by future generations. That’s not in print, radio, or even television. It’s in all forms of new media — including real time communication tools like Google Wave. We must keep up. We can’t afford not to.
Creative Way: Google Wave could be used by those in forms of “old media” such as magazine publishing (like me) to host real time discussions and gather feedback to find out new ways to better serve our readers.
A church could use Google Wave to coordinate weeknight home or cell group meetings in order to combine their studies and communications with the Sunday morning or evening worship message. If a pastor would like to see how his sermons are impacting what his people are learning, he could use Wave to send out study guide questions or bullet points to his cell or home group leaders. The leaders could then communicate to each other and their pastor in real time to show how his discussion points are affecting the discussions. The pastor could provide feedback to guide discussion, or field questions from the participants. In this way the pastor could interactively take part in how his flock is learning from his weekly sermons.
I think that google wave is going to be the hottest new trend. I am hoping to get an invite soon so I can learn it and use it for my PTA. I am excited to see what can be done with it~!!!
OK, so I was a little out there. The church is one of the most important places in my life. Finding a way to touch others is so important. Jesus said that
I’m looking forward to why Google wave has to offer our creative as far as planning goes. I also am curious as to how we could use it to keep people in the church and surrounding churches connected.
