Have you made a visit to formspring.me? It only takes 3 minutes to set up an account.
I’ve seen various references to it over the past several weeks, so I finally checked it out. Pretty cool, and it got me thinking about its usefulness on a ministry level.
What’s your take?
“Send and receive anonymous questions…”
Formspring.me allows folks to ask questions anonymously.
“Ask the pastor” is not a new concept, but I think formspring.me makes it a cinch for pastors to make this happen. Your pastor doesn’t have to constantly promote their page — it could be just be series-based, etc.
Through several initiatives we’ve had at The Chapel, including “Hard Questions,” Scott Chapman’s facebook page, and “Text Your Questions to ‘ASKSCOTT’ @41411,” there has been great response. Folks really do crave transparency of their church and pastor.
“Learn more about people you find interesting by following their answers.”
Formspring.me offers a social aspect of their site by allowing folks to search for and follow others. By doing this, you can follow the latest questions they’ve answered.
When you set up your formspring.me account, you can also connect your social accounts — Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Blogger. “Connect formspring.me with your blog or social network accounts so you can easily publish your answers and share them with friends.” Anytime you answer a question it will publish to your social networks.
Ask MediaSalt a question!
Finally, formspring.me provides widget functionality, so you can embed a question box on your blog or website.
Try it out and ask MediaSalt anything you want — Just created our account last night. We’re at http://www.formspring.me/mediasalt. This will be fun.

It’s interesting, but I’m always cautious about anonymity - especially in a Ministry context. It’s far too easy to shed our grace when we shed our name. I actually had to resist signing the question I submitted (re: Foursquare) because the web has moved so strikingly away from anonymity that it actually feels strange.
We’ve received several questions today through our formspring.me/mediasalt page, and are answering those right now.
Hi everyone. I’m new here so I just wanted to say hi
