I took my son to watch Alice In Wonderland this past weekend. During the movie I jotted down two statements that challenged me as a creative in ministry.
I hope they’ll challenge as well as inspire you as you work to impact the Kingdom of God this week.
1. Think of six impossible things before breakfast.
This is a statement made in a conversation between Alice and her dad at the beginning of the movie, and then revisited when she is fighting the jabberwocky. (Yes, I said jabberwocky)
This spoke to me because I love to think of things that are impossible to pull off in ministry, and watch God’s power make them happen.
What a cool way to approach morning quiet times with God. In addition to your normal routine, ask him to give you impossible things or ideas to reach folks for him.
2. Don’t lose your “muchness.”
Mad Hatter accuses Alice of losing her “muchness” from when she was a child.
This hits home because I think about all of the zeal I had when I first became a Christ follower, or even when I first stepped into full-time ministry. What happened to that?
Have you lost your muchness? God wants to empower us all to do great things for him. What is hindering your faith and keeping you from doing great things?

Zeal isnt that the band that playe some sweet tunes back in the day!! JK
Great article. I never want to lose my Muchness.
This particularly reminds me of what Perry Noble said on his blog a little while ago. To paraphrase him a little “If your ministry doesn’t make you say ‘oh Crap’ then you probably aren’t doing enough for God.
I think the more we start challenging ourselves to be bold for God, the more times we’ll have that nervous, what am I doing experience, and then the more times God will actually show up and do something incredible.
Jon and Duncan… Thanks for the comments.
Jon: Zeal was an awesome praise band — http://tinyurl.com/zealpic
Duncan: Good words man. I like the idea of stepping it up and challenging ourselves for God. He will do the incredible.
Was a great worship band? You mean they are no longer together? What the crap man!
