It’s Not Too Late for Facebook!

Easter is less than two weeks away, and if you’re like me you’re probably scrambling to come up with some creative ways to reach out to your community and invite them on Easter Sunday. Our promotional bread and butter in years past has been an extensive community mailer and some invite cards given out to our church members. This year (in addition to those avenues), we’re trying something a little different and a lot less expensive… Facebook Ads!

As Cleve has written about in the past, creating an ad on Facebook is simple and surprisingly inexpensive. You’d be amazed by how many folks you can reach with your content for less than $100.

facebook_adWe started by creating a landing page on our site that contains all of the information we want our folks to know about Easter. Next, I created a short link for that page (I went with longhollow.com/easter) that would make it easier for our staff and members to share in person with the folks they’re inviting. Finally, I visited Facebook’s ad creation page and created an ad that is targeted to more than 610,000 people within 50 miles of our church’s three campuses (remember, we’re trying to reach people who may not normally receive one of our mailers).

We launched our ad on Thursday(paying per click), and we have already received more than 300,000 impressions for less than $50 ! That’s some pretty tremendous exposure for such a small amount of money, and I couldn’t be happier with it so far.

It’s not too late to begin some new media promotion for your ministry this Easter; it’s well worth a few minutes of time to set your ad up and get it out there.

Are you using any interesting tools to promote your ministry’s Easter services? Let us know in the comments below.

This is a good idea. I think I’m going to try it this week since we still have a couple weeks till Easter. We’ve been doing a lot of FB promotion to our several hundred fans but this will hopefully be a great way to connect with those that aren’t familiar with our church.

Would you suggest doing some sort of video greeting or series promotion on the Easter landing page you link to from the FB ad?
