Time to Get Plugged In

Adding Facebook integration with your site just became a whole lot easier. Announced at the F8 Developer’s Conference last week, Facebook has put together some crazy powerful new social plugins that can easily add a wealth of interactivity to your next ministry project.

My two initial favorites are the universal “Like” button and the-out-of-this-world-ridiculously-awesome new comments box. The like button gives your visitors a simple, universally understood way to spread the word about the content they like on your online properties. You can whip one up to add to your sites here.

The comments box is what really gets me fired up. Not only is it attractive and easy to implement, but every comment serves as a viral link right back to your content. Even better, most of your visitors will never even need to log in (since they’re likely already logged in to Facebook) and they’ll be more likely to interact with your content through a technology that they’re already comfortable with. It’s almost a perfect commenting system.

Seriously, take a few minutes to explore some of the awesome new Facebook Social Plugins. Are you already using any of these on your sites? Share your work with the rest of us in the comments below.
