The Table Project is Launching

The newest solution to helping churches connect into authentic community within a social network launches publicly on Feb. 23.

I’m typically not even interested in learning more about the next big thing to try to replace or compete with Facebook or Twitter. Our lives are so busy that the thought of having to check one more site to keep up with people and relationships is not appealing to many of us.

I have been asked by different churches and organizations to help them accomplish their dreams for creating such a social/community web platform. Ultimately, I tell them there is no need to reinvent the wheel – use one of the great ones that already exist (if you feel you must) or lead them through better ways to use existing social applications.

Unlike Most Church-Specific Social Media

The Table Project really has my attention. Here are some of the highlights that immediately set it apart for me (with just a browse through their site, blog, and cool video):

  1. It’s free! What do you have to lose? A little time? There really isn’t an expense aside from some development to integrate the API’s where you would like.
  2. It’s flexible. From what it sounds like, churches can pick and choose from the available apps to get the solution that best fits their needs.
  3. Most importantly, it integrates everywhere you need it to. From Facebook and Twitter to FellowshipOne, it all works together.
  4. The thought and creativity put into this non-profit (it’s all about the first impression look and feel) make it worth a second look. I’m sure beauty in this case is more than skin deep, but the simple, seamless presentation at tableproject.org is a learning experience for all of us in church communications.
  5. Check out the blog for lots of other reasons churches should be checking this out: tableproject.org/blog.
